A year ago Maddy celebrated her birthday not once, but twice! Once in Knoxville with the Baker clan and once in Fort Worth with the Walker clan. She also had a week with Aunt Cindy and Nana when Logan and I took a group to Costa Rica for a mission trip.

August was all about welcoming our sweet puppy, Zeke, to our somewhat quiet household with some chewed up toys, spots on carpet, and more crying in the middle of the night. I think Maddy also got her big girl bed in August. We visited friends in Fort Worth and even Becky and Justin in Austin.
For Labor Day in September, we went to Corpus to visit Lauren and Trevor. Marme and Jimbo also came and took Maddy to the Witte.
Maddy was in her first wedding in October. She was a fairy for Halloween and rode a horse at the pumpkin patch.
In November, we went to Knoxville for Thanksgiving. She kinda loves the aquarium, can you tell?In December Maddy made cake balls for her teachers for Christmas, sat on Santa's lap, went to Windcrest to look at Christmas lights, and celebrated the amazing gift of Jesus' birth at Marme and Jimbo's house in Mineral Wells.

January started off with Uncle Josh's 40th surprise party in Friendswood. I danced with cousins and redecorated the party by gathering up all the balloons from the party.
In February, Maddy had the big job of announcing to the world that we were expecting Baby #2 (shirt says "World's Best Big Sister"). We also made homemade rice cereal treats for her class for Valentine's Day.
In March, I went out of town and Maddy and Logan had a daddy/daughter weekend with a trip to the zoo. We also had Spring Break a week later, where we stayed in town, but I can't even remember what we did for a week off of work and school. Hmmmm???? I need to blog more.
In April, Maddy spent the weekend at the ranch while we were at Passion, Nana came in town while Maddy had a fever, and we celebrated Easter. We stayed in town for Easter and enjoyed a small egg hunt in the front yard.
May: Confession - I didn't take many pictures in May! Woops! But this picture looks springy enough with Maddy running in front of the garden in her flowery dress. May was pretty quiet as we wrapped up school and got ready for the summer. We stayed in town for Mother's Day and just enjoyed time together.
In June we woke up to a very special surprise for the dry Texas summer....rain puddles from a nighttime shower! Even though the rain boots sweet cousin Lauren gave us are a little bit too big still, Maddy was willing to wear them in order to splash up and down the street. By the end of the street, she was filthy from the dirty water. A neighbor friend down the street gave us a towel and I carried her home since she didn't want to walk from the soaking wet boots. (They only keep you dry when you don't splash!). Since then we've gone to Sea World, the beach for a girls' weekend in Corpus, and had VBS at church.
July: A week before Maddy's birthday the Paci Fairy (AKA one of our fabulous Sr. High students with a cute tie die t-shirt and some fairy wings) brought her a Belle Barbie in exchange for her remaining three pacifiers. It was hard for about three days, but we haven't looked back! Since then we've gone to Sea World again, swam a lot, ridden bikes, played with grandparents, had a birthday party, and much more!
Can't believe this was my girl three years ago. Not much has changed. She still often falls asleep with a bow in her hair and parties in her sleep with her arms straight up! We love you Maddy and I promise to document this next year a little better for you since I haven't done such a great job this year. You are worth it and I will get better. Thank you for teaching me more everyday about patience, love, silliness, and having fun. You are a joy!
